US-based WAN optimisation vendor, Silver Peak Systems, has hired Wayne Neich to head up its local operations.
Prior to joining Silver Peak, Neich founded the Blue Coat Systems A/NZ branch in September 2005. He has also previously worked for Nortel, Bay Networks, Datacraft and Summit Communications.
Neich said his main objective was to build the local operation and its partner base.
“We’re helping high-end customers achieve compliance and disaster recovery capabilities by using Silver Peak to improve their performance and security of datacentre-to-datacentre communications,” he said.
“Another market we’re targeting is that we’re helping customers deliver converged datacentre to branch office networks, where they can now deliver all their data applications, but with VoIP, video and collaboration tools as well.”
In the networking space, it has established an agreement with distributor, Transition Systems. The vendor has global arrangements in place with Hitachi Data Systems, EMC and NetApp.
“We’ll be working with them and their channel partners,” he said.
Neich highlighted Silver Peak technologies can optimise all applications including UDP and PCP.
“Customers can optimise all their applications,” he said. “Demand for the products has outstripped our initial expectations.”
Neich said he plans to appoint a channel manager down the track, once the vendor gains more momentum in the market.
Silver Peak will be running a series of national training seminars starting in Sydney on January 11.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
