Kumar Parakala honoured with ACS life membership

Kumar Parakala was presented with Honorary Life Membership by Anthony Wong, ACS President at the World Computer Congress 2010 in Brisbane
Kumar Parakala has been elected an Honorary Life Member of the Australian Computer Society (ACS).
Parakala played a major role in restructuring the Society, increasing member engagement, developing stronger relationships with government and engaging with senior ICT professionals.
He has served in numerous roles within the ACS including vice-president and president.
ACS president, Anthony Wong, recognised the extent and significance of Parakala's contribution to the life and growth of the society.
“Parakala’s contribution to the ACS has been immense," Wong said. "His dedication and passion, has not only been fundamental in taking the ACS forward but also in increasing member engagement amongst government officials and ICT professionals.
He was the ACS spokesperson and public face during his tenure as ACS president and was appointed as member of the Information Technology Industry Innovation Council in 2008.
Parakala, is one of just 45 Australians to have been recognised with an ACS Honorary Life Membership since the society was founded in 1966.
He works for professional services firm, KPMG, as a partner and head of IT advisory for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
