New Microsoft Partner Network program springs into action

The enhancements include training, resources and support to enable partners to focus on specific technologies

Software giant, Microsoft, has revamped its Partner Network program, which comes into effect this month.

The enhancements include training, resources and support to enable partners to focus on specific technologies. Customers are also able to search for the right partner to suit their needs. Microsoft has been working through a transition phase with its partner community since MPN was officially announced at its Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC) in July last year.

The MPN was based on partner feedback and customer demand for specialised service expertise.

To get involved in the program, partners will need to renew their annual MPN membership and can gain access to Microsoft Action Pack Subscriptions, which provides access to software, development tools, training and market visibility.

Partners can obtain Silver or Gold competencies across 29 areas including CRM, ERP, software development, systems management, volume licensing, OEM hardware, virtualisation, application lifecycle management, and so on.

It aims put a spotlight on partners as being the prime experts in that particular solution.

Microsoft has also revealed its Cloud Essentials Pack that supplies resources to partners looking to extend their business into cloud offerings.

Partners will be granted 250 free licenses for various Microsoft cloud solutions for use in house, and will also be given access to a wide range of support services from the vendor, from deployment to presales and breakfix support – with a great deal more support going to successful Cloud Accelerate partners.

Earlier this year, it also launched its PinPoint partner hub. The vendor has highlighted its intentions to continue to make further improvements to its support tools for its partner community and is also rolling out solutions-based incentives to reward Gold partners for driving sales in specific Microsoft solutions.

Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
