Distribution Central grabs HP Networking security products

Distribution Central has been added to the HP Networking line up scoring the range of S-series network security products.
The deal comes as a result of the acquisition between 3Com and HP last year.
Distribution Central previously had an arrangement to distribute TippingPoint products, and the vendor was eventually acquired by 3Com. Under the agreement, it is the only Australian distributor with access to the S-series network security line up.
HP confirmed M.Tech still has distribution rights of TippingPoint products in other regions, but not in the Australian market.
Distribution Central marketing director, Nick Verykios, said its pipeline had expanded with resellers quoting to customers in banking, finance and government sectors.
“Intrusion prevention technology is a high consideration for these types of buyers and when you put a brand like HP in there, it’s going to get a lot of attention,” Verykios said.
“The support infrastructure of HP Networking has really legitimised not only the TippingPoint technology, but also intrusion prevention as a technology for a lot of corporate companies to adopt.”
Verykios said it would be remiss of HP and Distribution Central not to look at expanding its access across the broader HP Networking portfolio, but nothing was definite at this stage.
Regional TippingPoint group sales director, HP South Pacific, Jacqueline Kernot, said Distribution Central’s market penetration, the previous work it had done with TippingPoint and technical complexity of the product line, were a few of the reasons it kept Distribution Central on-board.
