BPOS Tools sets up shop

It will look at distributing products to partners from various independent software developers that help enhance the Microsoft BPOS experience

A new online distributor has opened for business, called BPOS Tools.

It will look at distributing products from various independent software developers that help enhance the Microsoft BPOS experience. It will also supply a range of BPOS templates and will develop some of its own tools.

The business was started up by Paradyne principal consultant, Loryan Strant.

The BPOS Tools business would run as a separate entity to Paradyne, which is a Microsoft BPOS partner, Strant said.

It’s aimed at both partners and their customers.

“We’re filling a void where Outlook or SharePoint might leave off. It doesn’t stop people from moving to BPOS if they have a specific requirement,” Strant said. “A lot of BPOS partners and their customers don’t know that some of these tools exist.”

He said partners could use the site without feeling threatened that their customers will be poached.

“It’s like an app store for BPOS,” he said. “If people want to develop their own bits of software or SharePoint templates as well, they can put it up there.”

There are also programs available for developers and BPOS partners, where they can get access to tools at a discounted rate.

The tools are categorised into migration, monitoring, general tools, user management and usability.

“There aren’t any specific market segments that we’re targeting, we’re hoping to have something to suit everyone,” he said.

“For partners, some of the tools would allow them to provide more services than what they currently do and sell extra product to their customers.”
