Globility signs first Aussie reseller

Launched a year ago, mobile system integrator, Globility, has signed its first Australian reseller for its AcceleNet optimiser.
Globility business development director, Tim Hayward, said it had been a busy year for the company with success on both sides of the Tasman.
"We haven't actively gone after resellers so it's a case of getting in front of the right people," he said.
Along with the signing of Mobitek, the company also has a customer trial underway with an Australian company.
The company leases AcceleNet software, developed by US-based Intelligent Compression Technologies and uses it to run its Electronic Optimising Node (EON), which compresses web and email data by up to 80 per cent.
New Zealand customers include Toll NZ, Hanover Group and Canon, and a commission from Vodafone NZ to work with several customers - including Placemakers.
Hayward said his company worked on improving the performance of Placemakers staff, who had a hosted web-based application running on pocket PCs, using EON.
"The performance has increased in the order of four to six times," he said. "EON compresses the data by up to a quarter."
The optimiser worked for any kind of access network, though Globility tends to focus on mobile, Hayward said.
"We think remote access over mobile has benefits," he said. "For example, you only have to teach the users one way of connecting and it's done." Hayward said the best method for remote access was via mobile but, without the optimiser node, performance was marginal.
