Australian Crime Commission targets UC suppliers

One of the nation’s peak crime-fighting bodies, the Australian Crime Commission, is on the hunt for an integrated unified communications system worth up to $2.2 million along with a panel of suppliers.

According to tender documents supplied by the Government body, a panel of suppliers for a range of UC suites will be put together with an emphasis on standards-based technologies rather than proprietary. Panel members will join with a 3-year deed that comes with two 1-year extension options.

But the ACC’s key focus is an upgraded video conferencing capability with services to provide the entire solution from sourcing to installation. It has around 600 staff with datacentres in Sydney and Canberra.

“The ACC intends to replaces its room-based video conferencing capability in the short term and take this opportunity to position itself for an integrated UC solution,” it said in tender documents.

Requirements for the services are divided into 11 categories;

• Conference bridge
• Conference control
• End-User client integration
• Online conference recording
• Offline conference recording
• Conferencing endpoints
• PABX and Voice
• Voice (phone) handsets
• voicemail
• commodity unified communications hardware and,
• Project services

Although tenderers are able to apply for any one of the categories, the ACC has warned that participants offering solutions for the majority of categories will have a much better chance of joining panel.

“Where tenderers have only proposed to provide a limited number of the services, it is less likely that they will be selected for inclusion on the panel,” it said. “In particular, if a tenderer only offers limited services in response to commodity unified communications hardware and/or project services.”

Companies must register for an industry briefing by 2pm on September 9. The briefing will take place on September 14 at 2pm at the ACC’s Canberra office on 44 Mort Street, Braddon.

The closing date for the tender is September 28 at 2pm with evaluation set for completion by October 8. The final contract signings are due by October 22 while commencement of services should start by October 23.
