European power supply vendor, Socomec UPS, has selected itX as a distributor to tackle the enterprise space.
Socomec produces uninterrupted power supplies (UPSs), protection systems, power distribution and related products.
The vendor had spent six months sniffing out a partner for the enterprise tier 1 channel space. itX was picked after Socomec determined they both had compatible business models.
itX will deal exclusively in the enterprise IT sector for Socomec.
According to the distributor, the new deal has filled a hole in its vendor line-up.
“One of the key issues the IT channel has with UPS vendors is that very few understand how important the channel is for business development,” Socomec said in a statement.
“You can’t go to market with an unstructured sales model selling through partners and direct at the same time.”
itX is set to be acquired by fellow distributor, Avnet Technology Solutions, for $77.5 million.
Socomec opened its doors 1922 and is headquartered in France and Italy.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
