Former Sun CEO joins 'talent intelligence' company board

Taleo, which offers a Web based talent and recruiting management service, added Jonathan Schwartz to its board

Since leaving his post as CEO of Sun Microsystems in February, Jonathan Schwartz has been largely quiet, despite promises to keep people updated via Twitter and his blog. Now he's turned up on the board of Taleo.

On Thursday, Taleo, a company that offers an on-demand talent management service, said that Schwartz had joined its board. Taleo's Web based service offers companies access to information about potential job candidates as well as employees so that they can make better decisions about recruiting and retaining talent, according to its Web site.

In addition to Schwartz, Taleo named Jim Tolonen, formerly chief financial officer for Business Objects, to the board.

Following the close of Oracle's acquisition of Sun, Schwartz left the company. Shortly after, he wrote a couple of blog posts, including one that revealed stories about past meetings with Apple's Steve Jobs and Microsoft's Bill Gates. He hinted that he might write a book about his experiences as an executive at Sun and encouraged people to follow him on Twitter and on his blog. But he hasn't posted a new blog item or Twitter message since March 9.

Schwartz was criticized by some for Sun's declining fortunes leading up to the Oracle acquisition. He started at Sun in 1996 when it acquired Lighthouse Design, where he was CEO.
