Ingram Micro gains access to EMC's Data Domain

The distributor expects Data Domain to act as an avenue to the data deduplication market

Ingram Micro has extended its EMC partnership by taking on the Data Domain product line.

The distributor expects Data Domain to act as an avenue to the data deduplication market, general manager of enterprise technology group, David Lenz said.

“Data Domain is a vendor agnostic product, so we see it as opening a new data management component,” Lenz said. “We do a lot of work with back up and recovery, but data deduplication is a newer segment for us.”

Ingram is in the process of training its entire BDM team of 26 staff to help build the product’s market presence.

Lenz said four presales technical people and two solutions architects were also trained to bring the solution to customers.

In a release, EMC general manager of channel and partners, David Henderson, said “Data Domain has significantly strengthened EMC’s already strong portfolio of backup and recovery products. The combination of EMC and Data Domain creates the broadest portfolio of deduplication products and solutions in the market,” he said.

Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
