Apple's has refused to comment on the future opening of an Apple retail store in Newcastle, New South Wales, despite job opportunities for the store being listed on its own website.
The electronic giant’s website lists current job openings for a Charlestown, Newcastle retail outlet. The site flagged future job opportunities for the location two months ago.
The earliest job openings for Newcastle were posted on May 30 and included vacancies for a store manager and technology specialists.
Technical support personnel – what Apple refers to as ‘Genius’ – were recently added to the list.
There is speculation the shop will be located in Charlestown Square, one of the largest shopping centres in the region. It is undergoing an expansion development which is expected to be completed later this year.
An Apple representative declined to comment on a possible Newcastle store.
The company confirmed a new Perth outlet will open on June 26.
The Bondi Junction Apple store kicked-off earlier this month, coinciding with the Apple iPad launch.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
