Dimension Data has added four new hosted IT services, with plans to extend it in the future.
The services cover areas of messaging, backup, disaster recovery and storage.
The integrator also offers an extensive range of customised hosted and outsourced IT services that are provided to clients based on specific requirements. It began developing hosted services capabilities with its investment in Sydney-based IT services firm, BlueFire, in December 2008.
BlueFire recently merged operations with Netforce.
The latest hosted services have been developed due to growing customer demand for cloud computing services, Dimension Data director of managed services, Keith Murray, said in a statement.
“Organisations both large and small are increasingly looking to outsource their IT infrastructure - in part or in its entirety - to third party services providers,” Murray said.
“Dimension Data is now able to provide both the infrastructure and its support to our clients as a service over the Net or 'in the cloud'.
“Hosted and cloud-based services are a major growth area in the industry and we are dedicated to providing a flexible, scalable and mature range of industry-leading services to meet this growing client demand.”
The new hosted services are:
- Hosted Exchange. It provides secure, business-class email with enterprise collaboration accessible by multiple channels and devices.
- Hosted Backup and Restore that backs up data (to disk or tape) for a defined period of time. The service is focused on storing and restoring data based on daily, weekly and monthly backups.
- Hosted Disaster Recovery. This ensures the organisation’s system environment and associated data can be made available if a disaster occurs, to ensure the business and its users can continue operating.
- Hosted Cloud Storage. It is the equivalent to a shared drive located over the Internet with the added benefits of security, access via multiple means (smartphones, desktop or applications), synchronisation and expandability.
