Government calls for IT service provider brains trust

Panel to provide Government with advice on ICT R&D, technology implementation and more

The Federal Government has called for IT service providers to join a brains trust capable of advising it on a range of tech issues.

A spokesperson for the Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy (DBCDE), Senator Stephen Conroy, said the current advisory panel was formed in 2007 and is set to disband soon.

“From time to time the Department may require the engagement of specialised technology advisory services in support of its work and objectives,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

“The Department is issuing this Request for Tender (RFT) to identify and select a new panel of suppliers to provide technology advice over the coming 2 to 3 years.”

According to the RFT documents each provider will have demonstrated experience and skills in providing industry analysis, technology solutions, implementation, testing and compliance in the ICT field.

Tech solution and implementation help that may need to be provided include planning, design and deployment management advice as well as post-implementation support and training.

Assistance may also be needed in enterprise software, hardware, storage and networking technologies and services along with cyber security infrastructure and technologies.

Tenderers can request clarification from the DBCDE until June 28. All tenders must be submitted by 10am on July 5, with the services expected to start from August 13 onwards.
