State of the market

• The markets opened higher in early morning trading but the gains quickly evaporated as it moved into negative territory. At 12:11pm, the S&P/ASX200 was down 13.7 points.
• The Aussie dollar is still sliding and sells for $US0.8433. Gold is selling for $US1196.1 an ounce and oil is currently at $US70.2 a barrel.
