M86 Security offers global training program

PartnerFocus provides educational tracks based on skill level along with installation and configuration options across its entire product portfolio

Security vendor, M86 has introduced a global channel training program.

The PartnerFocus program is for free and provides educational tracks based on skill level along with installation and configuration options across its entire product portfolio.

Asia-Pacific vice-president of sales, Jeremy Hulse, said it needed to put some structure around the certifications for the channel, since its acquisition spree. It merged with 8e6 Technologies in November 2008. It also acquired Finjan and Avinti last year.

“We needed to ensure that we had one standardised training program across the whole company,” he said. “Each of the companies that had come together over the past 18 months had different levels of certification and different rules and advantages.”

PartnerFocus program replaces the existing training programs across the combined entities.

There are three certified training tracks involved including sales professional, sales engineer and professional. All courses are based on current product releases.

The sales professional track provides a non-technical introduction into the product line up and the technologies that are involved with a product’s solution scope. Sales engineer provides technical pre-sales and sales engineering efforts for a specific effort. The professional track is aimed at technical individuals that will be involved in handling certain levels of technical support on a specific product.

Over time, the security vendor will expand its certification offerings, Hulse said.

Partners also have the option to participate in classroom training, webinars or online learning, and are altered when the latest class or certification offerings are available. There is also a ‘how to’ video library to help supplement existing content.

The training program is available through the M86 Security PartnerFocus portal.

The vendor re-branded to M86 in September.
