Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) has promoted Wendy Watkinson as its new executive of channels.
The role was awarded to Watkinson after the storage vendor restructured the business and integrated its channel and sales teams.
“Now sales managers have responsibilities to all pathways to the market and my goal is to establishing a robust strategy around that,” she said.
Identifying growing industry verticals and working with resellers to target those market segments are top priorities for Watkinson.
“We have a number of partners already and the approach is to target top strategic partners that have a high preference for HDS and building programs on the backend to drive their business,” she said.
“The priority is to have a deeper and wider relationship with them; it’s not about building a big partner base.”
Watkinson has been with HDS for three and a half years. She was previously the NSW channel sales manager.
She also worked for Nortel for nearly a decade after the communications vendor was purchased her former employer, Bay Networks.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
