VMware has made two new executive sales appointments including former Sun managing director, Duncan Bennet.
He joins the virtualisation vendor as its first director of commercial sales. Bennett was previously managing director of Sun Microsystems in A/NZ. He will be responsible for both face-to-face and telemarketing sales activities to SMB and medium-sized businesses.
“I spent a lot of time looking at the industry, and VMware is one of the most exciting and high growth organisations within it,” Bennet said.
Meanwhile, Steve Coad has taken up the position of director of enterprise sales. Coad’s background includes roles with IBM, EMC and Cisco in the Asia-Pacific region.
In a release, VMware managing director, Paul Harapin, said the two new appointments will work towards achieving a greater maturity in the vendor’s local business.
“As we drive the benefits of virtualisation and IT as-a-service deeper into businesses, we will benefit from the insight these industry veterans bring to VMware,” he stated.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
