Express Data has been named one of three ‘Best of the Best’ employers in a survey conducted by human resources company, Hewitt Associates.
Parent company, Dimension Data, and software giant, Microsoft, also topped the list, a surprising result given the majority of organisations surveyed were neither IT nor channel related.
All up, 110 companies were in contention for the top award. The judges included Professor Roger Collins from the University of NSW. Company names were not revealed throughout voting.
Express Data CEO, Ross Cochrane, said the skills shortage that struck the IT industry prior to the global financial crisis meant technology companies realised the value of retention and investment in staff.
“For us, it’s a combination of good practices and making sure we have the tools for investing in our people,” Cochrane said. “It’s also important to have very good management and leadership to ensure staff are properly supported, and we have the appropriate focus on their development.”
The distributor offers staff flexibility, financial packages, broadband at home and recognition of long service. They are all important criteria to being a good employer, Cochrane said.
Express Data has already won Hewitt Employer of the Year three years in a row, taking the award in September.
