3Tera will steam ahead under CA

News that CA will acquire cloud vendor, 3Tera, should bring opportunities to both sides, 3Tera’s exclusive Australian partner claims.
3Tera’s flagship product is AppLogic – a solution that aids in building cloud services and deploying enterprise-class applications to both public and private clouds. The cloud vendor has a sole distributor in Australia, Brisbane-based firstservis, which it partnered with in 2008.
firstservis managing director, Derek Merdith, expected the acquisition but was unsure of his company’s role going forward.
“We don’t want to lose a product, but it’s not going to be a deal breaker,” Merdith said. “We are interested in partnering with CA in the future.”
The acquisition was the perfect vendor match and would open up the enterprise cloud market for 3Tera, Merdith claimed.
“3Tera was limited by being the small company it has been and it suffered from being a small player with great technology. Within CA, it’ll scream ahead,” he said.
Terms of the agreement could not be disclosed. CA’s 3Tera purchase follows on from a number of recent acquisitions including Cassatt NetQoS and Oblicore. CA director of channel sales, Klasie Holtzhausen, said the most recent acquisition was part of the vendor’s increased focus on service providers.
“This gives us a set of complementary tools to what we’ve already made available to our partners,” he said.
The vendor still needs to evaluate 3Tera’s channel partners as the integration of the company commences, but Holtzhausen said CA will be looking for ways to work with potential new partners.
