Westan has landed a master distribution agreement with Yamaha’s Sound Network Division to take on its audio and video conferencing products.
“Video conferencing is a popular sector, especially with Skype becoming more mainstream,” Westan product manager, Evans Ong, said. “We’ll have a much broader product range for resellers.”
Yamaha adds to the distributor’s line of communication products from Polycom, Dialogic and ShoreTel.
Some of the products in the Yamaha line-up include a personal pocket size Web conference microphone speaker and muli-directional high definition Web conference microphone speaker.
Ong said the ideal target market is Skype, Instant Messenger and Google Talk users.
Yamaha Sound Network Division supervisor, Terri Hideki Nakagawa, said Westan had a lot of experience in the communication industry in Australia.
In a statement, Westan executive director, Kamil Aghtan said the audio and video conferencing market continued to evolve.
“With a better broadband infrastructure, this technology will quickly become a mainstream platform for communication in the business environment,” Aghtan said.
Last year, Westan’s founder Victor Aghtan announced plans to sell off the business to Wintech Group, but it’s main subsidiary Magnafield Technology Distribution, was placed into receivership, ending the deal between the two companies.
