Mac specialist distributor maps the mind

Apple specialist distributor, PICA, is attacking new technology through a partnership with mind mapping vendor, Mindjet.

MindManager, Mindjet’s flagship software product, is designed to aid the process of brainstorming. Whereas traditional brainstorming sessions involved writing on a whiteboard, or other similar measures, mind mapping solutions aim to visually connect ideas, information and people.

As productivity software, the concept is just starting to gain acceptance in the PC market, PICA managing director, Sian Mimmo, said. The solution is most beneficial for professionals within scientific or educational fields, where ordering thoughts and notes can be a critical part of the research side of the job.

“We need to undertake a big educational process to show people its benefits,” Mimmo said. “We have a representative from Mindjet coming out next month, who will help us educate Apple retail staff, and we’ll be seeking reviews in Mac-specific publications in the coming months.”

PICA will be the exclusive distributor for Mindjet’s Mac software. Its PC software distributors are Aquion, Mindsystems and Lifeboat Distribution.

Although MindManager is software, and not an application for the iPhone or Apple’s upcoming iPad, Mimmo anticipated plenty of other opportunities to come from the launch of the iPad.

“In terms of accessories, and the edutainment market, we see plenty of opportunities for the iPad,” Mimmo said.
