Dell has appointed three staff to its channel team and eight-year Dell veteran, Jay Turner, to the new position of SMB channel director to drive more focus on the sector.
According to a statement released by Dell, Turner has been appointed to the newly created role to drive growth and investment into the vendor’s PartnerDirect program. He previously held roles in marketing, planning and sales, and is also tasked with building the vendor's SMB footprint.
Additional roles around sales and support have been created, for which Turner is currently interviewing, he said.
"We're not looking at making any changes to our channel structure at this stage - the business is going well and we're quite happy with putting a continued focus into it," Turner said. "We have got a substantial team going, but we'll be adding to it with some new hires."
Former Symantec Asia-Pacific vice-president for channel sales, Cath Hodgson-Croker, has been hired by Dell as its new SMB marketing director.
New channel manager for New Zealand, James Arnold, returns to Dell after spending time with Lenovo and IBM.
Last year, Dell released products exclusively through its PartnerDirect program that were focused on the SMB space.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
