State of the market

  • The markets have risen following rallies on Wall St. and are being lead by mining stocks. However, early major gains were trimmed after lunch. At close of trading, the S&P/ASX200 was up 7.0 points at 4868.2.
  • The Aussie dollar is continuing to be largely steady and trades at $US0.9225. Gold prices have risen to $US1140.5 an ounce and oil is very slightly down to $US79 a barrel.
