NBNco to release supplier shortlist in January

More requests for capability and proposals set to come out progressively

The company formed to rollout the National Broadband Network (NBN) will release a shortlist of FTTP-related equipment and service providers.

NBNco began the hunt in December, before its website came online, inviting suppliers to submit written and electronic responses by December 21. According to a statement, the process proved to be highly successful and provided enough candidates to move on to the next stage of the selection process.

“The company is currently working through the statements as part of its detailed evaluation process. NBN Co expects to finalise a shortlist of suppliers by the end of the month,” it said in a release.

Formal Request for Proposal processes then take place in Q1 2010.

“[This] is designed to identify preferred suppliers capable of supplying suitable network equipment, supporting network construction and maintenance and also contributing to network testing and development,” the company stated.

“NBN Co will progressively issue further Request for Capability Statement and Request for Proposal document covering other goods and services.”
