Asus has appointed Altech a distributor for its full range of PC component products.
The A/NZ deal encompasses the vendor’s Open Platform products, which includes motherboards, servers, monitors and video graphics cards. Altech will sit alongside Synnex and Achieva in Australia and started holding stock on January 1.
In a statement, Altech managing director, Antony Sheen, said the products tied in well with its components focus, and were complementary to its performance and enthusiast computing portfolio.
Altech has previously sold Asus high-end and niche notebooks, as well as servers, barebone and networking gear. Alongside the components, the distributor will continue to stock these and select consumer products.
In the statement, Asus Open Platform business group manager, Eric Chang, said Altech was brought on to expand its reach into regional-based resellers and helped strengthen its 2010 channel strategy.
The Asus deal followed a busy 2009 for Altech, where it aggressively pursued a range of new vendor partnerships. Additions include server casing vendor, TST, graphics card player, XFX an exclusive partnership with Albatron and cooling solutions from Arctic.
