Express Data on a hiring spree

Express Data is looking to recruit seven staff across its business development and account manager teams.
The jobs on offer include three business development manager positions for its Novell, Cisco SMB and Cisco practices, along with a Symantec partner enablement specialist and two account manager roles. It is also on the hunt for an account co-ordinator.
The distributor is looking to secure individuals over the next month. Head of business development management, Angela Logan-Bell, said all but one of the positions were newly created and reflected increasing vendor investment into the channel. The largely vendor-funded roles were also a reflection of incremental growth in Express Data’s existing and new business, she said.
“It has been a formula we have developed over the last two years – we work on reseller objectives and help them grow their business,” she said. “The biggest challenge for vendors is getting access to the channel. They don’t often have the scale to that themselves, but we can do that for them.”
Logan-Bell also claimed vendors were showing a deeper commitment towards building a reseller’s services and support capabilities.
“It’s about getting a more meaningful outcome – we’re helping resellers to grow their business, improve their enablement capabilities and work out what certifications they need. It’s a different level of discussion than I’ve seen before,” she said. “It’s about getting more granular with resellers so they can support, and not just sell, the product. They have to have services capabilities to survive.
“But it’s also about the resellers – we want to help them get through the maze of vendors.”
Last year, Express Data appointed new business development managers across its RSA Security, Adobe, Sun and IronPort relationships. Logan-Bell hoped to recruit a further 2-3 employees in the near future.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
