Digistor forms specialist business unit to attack displays market

Dynamic Visual Systems a gamble on an upswing in the displays market in Australia

Digistor has taking a gamble on the growing popularity of displays and kiosks and formed a dedicated business unit to target the market.

The unit, Dynamic Visual Systems, will be headed up by business development manager, Darren Coles, a new recruit to the distributor from Europe who comes from a media distribution background. At present, Coles is the only dedicated staff member for the new business unit, though it shares Digistor Group resources such as financing and warehousing.

Coles said his initial goals were to build a team around Dynamic Visual Systems, and to develop the vendor’s partnerships into solutions to take to market.

Vendors on-board include hardware and software providers such as Smart AVI and LG. Dynamic Visual Systems has also been appointed as the master distributor for Cool Signs, a software specialist vendor for displays media.

“Historically, Adimex [another Digistor business unit] was representing SmartAVI, and with the increase of sales and demand for digital signage, we saw an opportunity in the market that fits with what we’re already doing,” Coles said.

Predicted to be a billion-dollar industry worldwide, Australia was just now starting to adopt signage technologies, Coles claimed.
