Following the successful launch of the Kindle worldwide last year, Amazon has announced the new Kindle DX will launch globally on January 19.
To be priced at $US489, the Kindle DX features a 9.7-inch display – significantly larger than the original Kindle’s 6-inch display. While still greyscale, the Kindle DX allows up to 16 shades of grey, and users will have access to the same 3G capabilities for downloading content as with the original Kindle.
The new device will have 3.3GB of memory for storage and a native PDF reader. Otherwise, users will have a similar feature list as with the original Kindle: Built-in Wikipedia access, dictionary, a battery life of around a week and text-to-voice capabilities for certain books.
Pre-orders are being taken online. The launch follows up a successful Christmas for Amazon’s e-reader, that saw it become the most gifted item in Amazon’s history.

Are you sure it's not just for people living in the US
The last time you ran this story it was misleading, You reported that, like this one, that it was "landing in Australia" where as the international version of the Kindle allowed Americans to use their kindle overseas. Is this still the case?
