It's a throwback to the old arcade games based on The Simpsons in the 1990s, but it's on a very new platform.
The Simpsons Arcade, which should hit the iTunes App Store any day now, tasks players to "join Homer on a hilarious chase through Springfield in drooling pursuit of frosted fried dough. Clueless and hungry, he has no idea that his desired doughnut is the key to a devious scheme hatched by sinister Springfield forces."
It's a side-scrolling, arcade style action game featuring 25 different levels, six different environments (including Krusty Land and Downtown Springfield) plus voices from the show's main talent. Along with the primary old-school action, players will see three different minigames; Doughnut Dreams, a balloon popping game called Inflato Head, and an accelerometer-based slapping game called Slap Homer.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
