NBN Tasmania finds construction firm for fibre rollout

Construction firm, John Holland, has scored a contract to install fibre along the east coast and north-west of Tasmania as part of the National Broadband Network (NBN) rollout.
Aurora Energy finalised the agreement on behalf of NBN Tasmania. Terms and value of the contract were not disclosed.
John Holland will be charged with delivering backhaul cable routes between Port Latta and Smithton in the state’s north-west coast. Georgetown on the north cost and St Helens on the east coast will also be connected as well as Midway Point in Hobart and Triabunna on the lower east coast.
Construction begins this month and is expected to be completed within Q1, 2010.
