Toshiba has promoted company veteran, Robert Wilkinson, to general manager of the Information Systems Division (ISD). He replaces Mark Whittard, who became its managing director in September.
Wilkinson joined Toshiba in 1997 as a retail account manager and has maintained several years during his time with the IT vendor, most recently as channel business manager looking after AV and IT consumer and SMB markets. In his new role, he will be responsible for ISD including the notebook business for the B2B and B2C segments, and AV including LCD televisions, DVD and Blu-ray players and LCD/DVD combos. In a statement, Whittard said Wilkinson had strong business acumen, which had helped growth its consumer notebook and AV business. He is attributed with building the consumer business from start-up to more than $500 million turnover, as well as assisting with Toshiba’s entry into the local AV market in 2006.
Wilkinson will also continue to act as national channel business manager until a replacement is found.
