NBNco hunts for suppliers

Company looks for FTTP specialists for $43 billion NBN

NBNco is rounding up potential partners for the National Broadband Network (NBN) rollout and has implored suppliers that want to get involved to submit a capability statement.

The company responsible for overseeing the rollout of the $43 billion fibre network is looking for “experienced suppliers of fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) and related active equipment (aggregation and transmission equipment) to support the deployment of a point-to-point and gigabit passive optical (GPON) networks”.

While the official NBNco websites won’t be up until January 2010, interested parties can complete a form on the company’s interim portal at www.nbnco.icn.org.au/registerInterest.aspx. Written and electronic responses need to be submitted by 5pm Monday, December 21.

The NBN project has been rife with activities this month with networking integrator, Nextgen Networks, and fibre supplier, Cornings, both scoring lucrative NBN contract. The Federal Government’s Realising our Broadband Future forum is also due to be held later this week.
