Anixter has been appointed master distributor for Aastra, adding a significant feather to its vendor cap around voice.
Aastra has developed a strong presence in the enterprise space following its acquisition of Ericsson’s enterprise PBX business early last year. Anixter, which has been a partner of the vendor’s in the US for 10 years, has a big opportunity to leverage off this locally, Anixter marketing manager, Daniel Sultana, said.
“Upgrading the existing Ericsson install base, and servicing Aastra’s existing channel partners will be a strong business model for us,” Sultana said. “We expect it to be a pretty big business for us going forward, although I cannot give specific figures.”
Sultana said the distributor represented other voice vendors in the past, but the new partnership was an extension on a global partnership the two organisations enjoyed, and the local team worked hard to achieve the deal.
In a release, Aastra Australia channel manager, Jason Finlayson, said he was confident the vendor and distributor shared complementary product sets.
“Anixter’s expertise will be a great asset as Aastra continues to build on its presence in Australia,” Finlayson said in the release.
Anixter formed a partnership with another major vendor, Emerson, in the datacentre space in August.

and a great deal for Aastra Partners and Aastra
It’s good to see Aastra addressing the Go-to-Market model in Australia and giving partners a choice, not to mention making it easier to do business with.
Over the years Ericsson reduced the investment in enterprise voice and UC market to a leave that impacted our business, with the acquisition of the Ericsson enterprise business by Aastra and the investment they are making on products, go-to-market and branding will all go a long way in re-building the market leading presence they had in the Australian market.
Keep up the good work.

At Last some Competition for Telstra - Go Aastra
Aastra has some very competitive solution offerings that are not being represented in the market. Hopefully this will change with this new model.
