Brennan IT follows S Central buy with geographic expansion

Brennan IT has followed up its controversial acquisition of S Central assets by opening an Adelaide office.
Located at 125 North Terrace, the premise is managed by three staff, and headed up by state manager, Alex Tarata.
Brennan IT managing director, Dave Stevens, said the rate of adoption of cloud services in Adelaide was impressive, but a local presence was needed to properly leverage opportunities.
“Adelaide companies are willing to make use of cloud architecture based in Sydney or Melbourne, they understand and accept it’s a necessity to access the technology,” Stevens said. “That said, they do want the services to be locally delivered, so we needed a local presence.”
Although the Adelaide community is notoriously close-knit, Tarata was confident of Brennan’s potential. As a local, he said the market was all about relationships and knowing the people he dealt with.
“I don’t see a problem in developing Brennan’s presence in Adelaide,” Tarata said. “We do have to get people to know the name, but we’re sponsoring local community events and being proactive with talking to people.”
Tarata was recruited five years ago to Brennan and has worked in almost all offices.
“He had a passion to work in Adelaide, so we decided to look for opportunities to expand Brennan into the state,” Stevens said.
Brennan, which acquired S Central’s assets last month has enjoyed a strong year, cumulating in it placing 21st in the BRW fast 100 for the sixth year in a row with a growth of 91.47 per cent. Part of the appeal of S Central was its Newcastle presence, allowing Brennan to further expand its geographical reach, Stevens claimed at the time.
Brennan said the service provider was open to further geographical expansion provided it would be represented by the right people.
“If an existing staff member has a passion to work in new markets for us, such as Perth or Darwin, we will back them, and open an office in the state,” Stevens said.
