Eaton resellers to drive three-tier warranty program

Power management vendor, Eaton, has launched a three-tier warranty system to be sold through its resellers.
The three levels are Warranty+, Warranty+ Silver and Warranty+ Gold. All are available 36-60 months from the date of purchase and come with varying degrees of support and on-site support.
Eaton national sales manager, David West, said the Power Life Packs (PLPs) would only apply to single-phase devices and the resellers that sell them. Single-phase power management devices are smaller and can be plugged into an electrical socket.
“There are different levels of pricing on this product. There’s what we based the reseller pricing and the list pricing,” West said.
“If the customer comes to us directly, we’ll give them the list pricing. If a reseller wants to decrease their margins, by all means they can but if they increase the price, that might be detrimental to them.”
According to West, Australian customers were moving against the global trend of buying larger three-phase devices and preferred single-phase units instead.
“Having had a look at what happens in Australia, it occurred to me that we needed to sell something like this to our single-phase customers and that’s where there are opportunities for growth for Eaton,” he said.
West was keen to state all current and future authorised single-phase resellers would be able to sell the warranties. Each PLP is a physical product with a serialised barcode and the vendor handles the guarantees.
