Manaccom is looking to capitalise on the mass-transition from legacy Windows operating systems to Windows 7 with new vendor partner, Laplink.
Laplink is a specialist software vendor which provides tools to migrate data from PC to PC, and from older operating systems to newer ones. The vendor was previously represented in Australia by regional distributor, Saratoga. Laplink CEO, Thomas Koll, said the release of Windows 7 presented the vendor an opportunity to increase its presence in the market and ramp up reach.
“We have been in retail channels, and had some success with Saratoga,” Koll said. “Despite the successes we’ve had, we need a broader channel focus.”
Manaccom will be the exclusive representative for Laplink in Australia, reflecting a model the vendor has trialled with success in other regions such as Japan, Koll said. He said the swap in distributors was not a reflection on Saratoga’s performance.
“We worked with them for a number of years and they have done really well,” he said. “But now it’s time to expand.”
Manaccom has gone through a number of changes in recent months, with both founder and CEO, Ian Mackay, and his son, James, leaving the company.
In May, the distributor ended its longstanding partnership with Trend Micro in favour of a new relationship with McAfee.
