Telstra has launched its new Security Operations Centre (SOC) in Canberra.
The 1300sqm facility is ASIO T4 accredited and will be used to provide managed security services to enterprise and government customers countrywide. It will specialise in secure management of a company’s core infrastructure alongside networks that Telstra manages for its clients.
Canberra’s SOC will initially house 40 security personnel but has room for up to 100 employees. It is integrated with the telco giant’s existing network monitoring facilities such as Telstra Global Operation Centre (GOC) in Melbourne and Telstra Managed Network Operation Centre (MNOC) in Sydney.
In a statement, Telstra enterprise and government group managing director, Nerida Caesar, said the new complex offered customers a complete view of their network environment to better guard against and isolate security incidents.
“The SOC enables us to help customers to effectively reduce and deal with security risks, comply with regulations and policies, protect their critical assets, and enhance operational safety,” she stated.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
