Former Corporate Express IT manager, Marcus Heron, has reappeared to head up Swiss-based consumables brand, Peach, in Australia.
Heron said his first point of focus was to establish the business locally and set-up a channel. The Peach brand is owned by 3T Supplies and covers generic printer and toner cartridges, along with paper and accessories, for all makes of printers. The brand operates in 24 countries across Europe and is trading under Peach Australia locally.
“We’re heavy into retail but also looking at the dealer channel,” Heron said. “At this stage, we’re in discussions with distribution players and are likely to go through the major distributors.”
Heron said it also had letters of intent from several retailers.
“We will also probably look at sub-distribution to get into the tier 2 and tier 3 dealer market,” he said.
Heron has taken an equity stake in the business and maintains four staff in Australia.
“My heritage is in the consumables business – guaranteed annuity and more acceptable margin is what I was looking for,” he said. “The brand we have is well known in Europe and has sold over 10 million cartridges, so it’s a significant business.”
Heron exited Corporate Express in February after 19 years with the office and IT reseller.
