NWS offers broader ICT warranties online

National Warranty Services (NWS) has expanded its online system to provide ad-hoc warranty contracts across a wider range of ICT products.

General manager, Don Card, said new functionality grafted into its patented Instant Warranty Delivery System (IDS) allowed resellers to put together any manner of warranty for their customer independent of stock lists. To do this, NWS has created risk loading factors for each type of technology category depending on product type, the risk of failure, a manufacturer’s warranty conditions and pricing.

Warranties of up to five years can be generated for networking gear, media centres, POS equipment, VoIP and mobile phones, smartphones, PBXs, LCD and plasma screens, digital recorders, printers, cameras, GPS and transceivers.

To get an instant quote or warranty, resellers select the appropriate product category and manufacturer, then type in RRP, model numbers and the warranty period. Resellers can then either produce a warranty certificate, or email quotes to their customers.

“This opens up our market to people who aren’t selling PCs as their main line of business,” Card said. “For our normal PC dealers and wholesalers, it opens the floodgate to not just provide warranties on core PC products, but also branch out into convergent devices, such as smartphones, and a wider range of products.

“A lot of our traditional resellers are very focused on PCs and notebooks, but we’re seeing a shift into things like netbooks. I hope this will encourage them to broaden their thinking.”

NWS continues to develop IDS and has made 250 other small and not so small enhancements of all sorts to add greater functionality and flexibility since it launched its online warranty system in March 2007, Card said.

He highlighted the Mates Rates loyalty discount option of up to 15 per cent for resellers who buy warranties regularly.
