Mackay Jr. given the boot from Manaccom

Software distributor's founding family no longer part of the company

Hot on the heels of his father’s exit from ASX-listed Manaccom’s (ASX:MNL) distribution arm, James Mackay has been made redundant.

Ian Mackay, Manaccom’s founder, retired as managing director earlier in November. He had taken back the position he held for 20 years after a one-year hiatus when his son, James, stepped down from the role in March 2008.

James Mackay has since been running a small division within Manaccom called Sellerbyte – a marketing initiative for software vendors.

In an email, James Mackay claimed his termination was sudden, and he was only given three hours notice. He claimed no reason was given for why he was dropped. Manaccom CEO, Mike Veverka, declined to comment on the cause, saying it was under contract.

Despite being staffed by three people, there are also no plans to replace Mackay in Sellerbyte.

“The venture doesn’t need a replacement at this stage,” said. “We’re also not looking for a replacement for Ian Mackay’s role as managing director. I’m acting in that role until the New Year.”

In the meantime, James Mackay said he would not be looking to take a new position in the IT industry.

Real reason why the Mackays were fired?

I wonder if it had something to do with them losing the Trend Micro account to Ingram?

That can't have left them with a lot of business left.
