CRM reseller, Adexio, has been acquired by ISV, Markinson Business Solutions, as part of a broader scheme to transform its business to a reseller model.
Markinson managing director, Ian Whiting, said the company, which has been operating for 22 years, was looking at the best ways to take the business forward.
A transformation to resell products not developed in-house was the best model, he said.
“We’ll continue to do software development, but being a reseller allows us to leverage the market drivers more,” Whiting said.
Adexio brings the ISV a range of technical knowledge and partnerships. All 20 staff and management have been retained to allow Markinson to leverage its skill sets and raise its total headcount to 70.
The reseller also brings partnerships with CRM giants, Microsoft and Sage, and 200 customers, as well as a broader geographic presence that includes New Zealand, a first for Markinson.
The two organisations were originally in talks to form a partnership, Whiting said, but it became evident cultural and ethical similarities made Adexio a good acquisition.
Markinson will continue to look for more acquisition opportunities, Whiting said.
This provided better growth opportunities than organic expansion at this stage, he said.
“We’ve got a target around business intelligence, and I’m not adverse to an even bigger CRM practice,” Whiting said. “We’re also looking at software-as-a-service and hosting – we have a relationship with Brennan IT that we’ll continue to leverage and grow.”
