Lan 1 bumps up wireless game with DragonWave

New product to help distributor guarantee reliability with licensed wireless spectrum

Storage, networking and security vendor, Lan 1, has signed DragonWave to broaden its microwave networking offerings.

The partnership comes on the back of Lan 1’s acquisition of wireless distributor, TR Telecom. Lan 1 managing director, Daniel Lee, said there was a substantial gap in the distributor’s portfolio around licenced microwave spectrum that DragonWave would fill.

“Giving resellers and their customers the ability to pick a licenced part of the wireless spectrum is good for mission critical applications as it can guarantee a service level without interruptions,” Lee said.

DragonWave is an especially attractive options for telcos, he said, with Unwired in Perth the vendor’s technology as part of its WiMax rollout.

It is also a good opportunity for partners to get involved with government regulation, product offerings and network reliability concerns opening up new technology conversations and solutions, Lee said

As Lan 1 continues to looked through the vendors represented by TR Telecom, it will sign further partnerships, he said.

At least three more would be finalised soon.

Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
