Altech Computers has signed a distribution deal with Taiwan-based server casing vendor, TST.
According to Altech Computers managing director, Antony Sheen, the contract will last for one year and is extendable, but no set sales requirements have been set by either party.
“I’ve seen this company many times during shows, so we just started talking about three to five months ago,” he said. “It was Computex possibly. The products were better than before.”
Sheen said Altech would distribute 70-80 per cent of TST's range and insisted there were relatively few competitors in this field. He predicted business would go well for all parties involved.
“This kind of quality is almost impossible to find in Australia. There is not much choice and while there are some Chinese products available the quality is not always up to scratch," he said.
While Sheen was unwilling to put a dollar figure on the deal, he did say there had already been strong interest from some companies wanting to save money while offering good solutions.
“One big company was asking us for a large server they could fit a lot of hard drives into, but for a long time we couldn’t find anyone on the market to supply us with some of these cases,” he said.
“We’ve already started marketing. We’re currently sending out the EDS but in the future we’ll be advertising as well,” he said.
