SecureServ to boost Web 2.0 security range

Distie brings on Microdasys to fill a gap in its portfoilio

Niche security distributor, SecureServ, has brought on Microdasys as a vendor. According to SecureServ managing director, Vic Whiteley, the latest products focus on securing enterprise users from Web 2.0-sourced threats.

“Microdasys was looking for a specialist distribution channel in Australia and I guess they did some research and came up with us. We had a number of discussions and were aware of the product and took it from there,” Whiteley said.

The deal was a positive for both companies as SecureServ had been hunting for a product capable of protecting users from newer threats to fill the gaps of its security portfolio, he said.

“Things like XML and SSL-borne threats are coming through websites and sharing of information through thing like SharePoint,” he said. With Web 2.0 functions increasingly popular within the workplace, Whiteley expected a large proportion of the distributor’s business to come from selling the new product line.

“We’re looking to hopefully grow 20 per cent [within the first 12 months],” he said. The deal is non-exclusive for both parties.
