Westcon Group has massively expanded its New Zealand presence by acquiring Datastor.
Datastor is one of the largest channel distributors across the Tasman, with approximately 70 staff. Westcon Group previously had a headcount of seven in the country. Westcon Group executive vice-president for Asia, Wendy O’Keeffe, said the purchase fitted with the distributor’s regional growth plans, which have also seen it set-up a presence in three South-East Asia countries in the past four months.
“We’re looking to expand from nine to 13 countries over the past 18 months, and we’ll do that through a combination of organic growth and acquisitions,” O’Keeffe said. “The New Zealand market has a small population but is a large distribution opportunity, so we’re pleased with the acquisition of Datastor.”
As the dominant player in the market, Datastor will retain its branding and all staff. Datastor CEO, Dave Rosenberg, will remain as head of the company, reporting to O’Keeffe.
In a release, Rosenberg said Westcon Group’s reputation was excellent and the distributor was confident the acquisition will result in additional business opportunity with minimal disruption.
O’Keeffe was promoted to lead Westcon’s Asia-Pacific push in April.

Good acquisition !
Datastor is a very well known and a reputed company in NZ. I am sure it will be a gem in Westcon's acquisition basket.
