Kensington has signed a partner agreement with consumer retailer, Dick Smith, to carry its products nationally. The vendor specialises in computer and Apple peripherals and accessories.
The range is set to be distributed through the vendor’s existing distributor, Try & Byte. The company also distributes to a wide range of resellers and retailers, but Kensington product manager, Sam Goldstein, insisted the new direct partnership with Dick Smith won’t cause further damage to resellers.
“No, certainly not. They have their own relationship with Dick Smith and I think it works well for both parties,” he said.
While he was unable to provide the vendor’s expected revenue growth or sales figures, Goldstein expected strong positive results.
“We set out at the start of the year to build our retail presence. This is a huge step in the right direction that hopefully will lead to increased sales for us,” he said.
Last month, Dick Smith took out its resellers and refused to renew contracts. The move restricted the brand to franchisees and in-house retail stores, in line with the company’s strategic plan.
