UXC hires first CEO for consulting

UXC chairman claims ASX-listed integrator is "on a roll" following a strong few months

ICT integrator, UXC (ASX:UXC), has created the new role of CEO UXC consulting and hired Nick Mescher to fill it.

According to UXC, Mescher has 25 years professional experience including 14 years establishing and running IT businesses. Most recently, he was CEO of Adecco Australia’s Professional Services business, Freelance Global, and a co-founder of CPT Global.

“We’ve got five consulting businesses in our Business Solutions Group. His role will be to coordinate and manage those,” UXC executive chairman, Geoff Lord, said. “Within the Business Solutions Group, consulting is very important. Basically the group breaks into consulting, applications and infrastructure.”

Mescher will report to Cris Nicolli, who oversees the entire unit.

Lord said the appointment would streamline the consulting division and allow Nicolli to concentrate on the overall picture.

“He's got a limited bandwidth, everybody’s got a finite bandwidth. Instead of having five people to split it into, we only had one,” he said.

The appointment comes despite UXC’s disappointing financial results released in late August. Late last year, the company retrenched up to 12 staff as part of a cost-cutting exercise.

The company claims it fortunes, however, are looking positive following a series of deals including several Government contracts in late February.

“We’re on a roll. We’ve already said we hope to do $800 million this year and the first two months have been quite bright. We’re growing and we are creating jobs,” Lord said. “Including contractors, we have around 5000 people, so we’re starting to become quite a large organisation.”

UXC subsidiary, Red Rock Consulting, recently took over a Sydney-based IT specialty consultant, Glue.
