Internet security vendor, Marshal8e6, has rebranded to M86. The decision comes just under 12 months after Marshal and 8e6 merged into one entity.
The company said the rebranding was always on the books but the timing and the official name was decided on just three months ago.
While M86 was reluctant to walk away from the legacy of the Marshal8e6 name, it was the right time to take the plunge, chief marketing officer, William Kilmer, said.
“[With Marshal8e6], we wanted to be a recognisable entity in the market for customers and channel partners,” she said. “But there was always a general feeling that we would be consolidating the name into something that stood on its own and provided more identification as a standalone entity.”
M86 will become the umbrella brand, while individual product names will be retained for continuity with channel partners and customers. Overall cost of the operation is $100,000.
Kilmer said there would be minimal impact on M86’s Australian business and said the region was a major growth area.
He said added sales in Asia-Pacific have trumped North America, bucking the international downturn trend.
