Emerson partners with Anixter

Specialist distributor to help vendor's reach into datacentre infrastructure

Datacentre vendor, Emerson, has partnered with Anixter to broaden its reach beyond IT.

Emerson marketing director, Peter Spiteri, said the partnership was formed on the back of a relationship the two organisations had enjoyed in other geographies.

“We brought the partnership to Australia to leverage Anixter's reseller base in the area of electrical contracters,” Spiteri said.

The partnership will assist Emerson in targeting small datacentres and computer rooms.

Spiteri said the expected impact on Emerson’s existing national distributor, Westcon Group, was minimal.

“We had a discussion with Westcon and we see it as a complementary relationship,” he said. “There will be some overlap in the reseller database, but where Westcon will be our national IT distributor, Anixter will be our national IT and electrical contractor distributor.”

In a release, Anixter managing director, Wayne Bogart said the distributor had built a strong business in the region around specialist skills in structured cabling for power and data, with a focus on communications, security and switching systems.

“It therefore makes sense that we partner with the leaders in these fields,” he said in the release.
