Edimax Technology has released a wireless IP camera that has the capacity to send live video to any Web browser in the world.
The 11n Dual Mode Internet Camera (IC-7000PTn), which features a 1.3 Mega pixel lens and supports 802.11n technology, can transfer high quality video because of higher transmission rates, according to the vendor.
The camera has a motorised pan or tilt and zoom function, which can be remotely operated to adjust the camera angle, and two modes of video-compression, MJPEG and MPEG-4.
It also features multi-area motion detection which sends email snapshots when the camera detects motion. Users can pre-determine three triggers for motion detection in the camera’s view-of-fields for sending snapshots.
The vendor claims a convenient function of the camera is the SDHC/SD memory card slot for users to store of files or snapshots to be sent at a later time, as well as the audio output for speaker and microphone connection.
The camera offers users a number of security features, including password protection, simultaneous multiple users login and WEP, WPA and WPA encryption. Users can also create a personal web address to monitor the camera’s live video using the Dynamic Domain Name Service (DDNS) utility.
The IC-7000PTn 11n Dual Mode Internet Camera retails for $599. It is available through distributor Bluechip Infotech and is backed by a 3 year warranty.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
